3 nabbed for stealing cattle in Shiwang’andu

OUT-GOING Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has revealed that investigations in a case of seven stolen heads of cattle belonging to C & J Harvey Farm in Shiwang’andu are underway.

Engineer Njase yesterday confirmed that police have apprehended three people in connection with the stolen cattle.

Eng. Njase said the suspects were apprehended at Philipo village last week on December 28 after being found with carcasses of two cows.

“Police have only managed to recover carcasses of two of the cattle, whereas the remaining five  are yet to be recovered,” said Eng. Njase.

He said upon interviewing the apprehended persons with regards to the carcasses, they informed the officers that they bought the carcasses from two men who sold the remaining to other people within Philipo village.

Eng. Njase said that the thieves who stole the cattle are not known yet but are believed to be from another village which is located after C&J Harvey Farm in Shiwang’andu. Meanwhile, the owner of the seven stolen cattle identified the two recovered carcasses and an order of disposal was done by the Chinsali Magistrate’s Court.
