THE opposition MMD will not allow UPND to bring civil strife in Zambia through their planned rally, says MMD national secretary Raphael Nakacinda.

Mr Nakacinda said the MMD was ready stop the UPND from holding the rally should the police fail to contain the situation.

He said the intentions of UPND were nothing more than deceiving people that its leader Hakainde Hichilema will be installed republican President after the court matters.

He said the opposition UPND had been insisting to incite the nation and raising emotions of citizens who voted the ruling PF government.

He charged that no rally would go ahead, saying it was unacceptable to mislead the citizens.

Mr Nakacinda said it was a shame that the UPND had gone far by stepping into deceiving the Zambian people that their leader Mr Hichilema would be installed as republican President, adding that such claims were nothing but a breach to peace by bringing confusion in the country.

He wondered why the party would want to have a rally and address the same people that were insulted for not voting for it. He said nothing was expected from that rally but instead utterances of anger statements against the same President Lungu it did not want to recognize.

“No rally by the opposition UPND will go ahead and as MMD we are not going to allow such a situation for the interest of peace and stability in the country,

“The UPND does not mean well for this country because since they lost the election in 2016, they appear to be still in self-denial and having failed to accept the outcome has made them to be anxious and so emotional towards others,” he said.

He said MMD brought democracy in Zambia, and that it would not allow any individuals to incite violence to suit their interests.

Mr Nakacinda said UPND was in court to challenge the election of President Lungu and therefore should not hold a rally until the matter was put to rest.
