Police IG warns against confusion

Individuals that would want to cause confusion in today’s Kabwata parliamentary by election to reconsider their intentions as the Police will not tolerate any form of lawlessness Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba has warned.

Mr. Kajoba said the rule of law shall and will always be applied firmly and fairly and that all culprits found wanting will be dealt with sternly.

 He advised political players participating in the parliamentary by election to adhere to the provisions of electoral process act and other related pieces of legislation during and after the polls.

Mr. Kajoba said enough police officers have been deployed on the ground in order to maintain law and order throughout the voting process at all polling stations.

Meanwhile the Zambia Women’s Lobby said lack of funding towards the Kabwata by-election from their partners has hampered their ability to fully support the only female candidate in the election.

United National Independence Party UNIP candidate Engiwe Mzyece, is the only female contender Parliamentary by-election slated for Thursday 3rd February, 2022.

Lobby executive director Juliet Chibuta explains that the organization only managed to campaign for her on various social media platforms and radio station.
