Use CDF prudently, Mweetwa urges Siavonga Council

By ANDREW MUKOMA

COUNCILS should use the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) through consultatation with the grassroots, Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa has advised the Siavonga Town Council.

Mr Mweetwa said the CDF should be made to benefit the local people and improve their standard of living, according to the council’s Public Relations Officer Gwendolyn Mwanza Mchenga.

The minister, who was on a familiarisation tour of the district, has also urged civil servants to be professional and deliver quality service to the public.

Mr Mweetwa said, the district occupies a very unique and special place in the developmental and gender trajectory of the new administration as it provides quite a diversity of economic activities which it seeks to explore to foster development.

He said he was aware that Siavonga was endowed with minerals and it is emerging to provide alternatives in terms of mining and the government is keeping a very close eye on its mineral activities.

And Mr Mweetwa has said that under the new administration, no civil servant should be worried about being retired in national interest.

He said this is because this was established as a window for political persecution and victimisation of civil servants by the former regime. Mr Mweetwa and his entourage also paid a courtesy call on Chief Simamba of Sinadambwe Ward and visited Zamfresh Fish Company to appreciate what the company was doing and also took time to listen to the plight of the workers.
