UPND murder suspect committed to High Court

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Kanyama chair lady  has been committed to the Lusaka High Court for trial in a case she is charged with the murder of a Patriotic Front ( PF) supporter.

Lonica Musomela is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that Musomela on January 28, this year in Lusaka did murder Terrence Mutale a PF supporter.

According to police the incident occurred after two unruly groups clashed during a funeral procession in Lusaka.

Mr Mutale sustained multiple head and body injuries and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital ( UTH) where he died on January 30, this year.

Musomela was jointly charged with Mauzeni Kauma, who was yesterday discharged of the charge after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) entered a nolle prosequi .

When the matter came up yesterday for mention ,  State prosecutor Mutinta Malumani informed the court that the State had entered a nolle prosequi in respect of Kauma and was discharged from the murder charge.

Ms Malumani also informed the court that the prosecution was in receipt of a certificate to have Musomela committed to the High Court for trial.
