Trucks roll out of Kazungula

By ANDREW MUKOMA
SOME truckers that were marooned in Kazungula border during the quarantine period, have started moving.
Last week, more than 800 inbound and outbound trucks were stuck in Kazungula after Government imposed 14 day of the COVID-19 quarantine.
In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Kazungula District Commissioner (DC) Pascalina Musokotwane said that the trucks had started moving.
Ms Musokotwane said that the drivers were moving in batches as Government could not allow everyone to move at once.
“I can confirm that they have started moving and they started on Thursday last week. They are being released in batches because we can’t release everyone at once,” she said.
The DC stated that since they started moving on Thursday last week, the boarder area was now being decongested.
Recently, the drivers had complained of poor sanitation and lack of food at the place where they were quarantined.
They complained of being inconvenienced when Commerce Minister Christopher Yaluma and his Transport Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya accompanied by Health PS Kennedy Malama visited Kazungula last week.
