HIGH Flying Nkwazi FC derailed Muza FC from claiming top spot on the Super League table after handing the Mazabuka-based Super League outfit their first defeat of the season, winning 2-1 at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.

An injury time goal from Emmanuel Chabula secured the win for Nkwazi who maintained fifth position with 19 points, on par with Red Arrows and Zesco United.

Nkwazi were determined to maintain their winning streak after beating Mutondo Stars and Nkana in the last two matches and were able to take the lead in the 22nd minute of the Week-11 fixture through young Joseph Banda.

However, Muza were able to grab the equaliser in the last minute of the first stanza through Besa who was unlucky to direct the ball into his own net.

Chabula scored the late winner in the 93rd minute to maintain Nkwazi’s winning streak as Warriors who were stunned 2-0 by Kansanshi Dynamos maintained top spot on the Super League table with 21 points.

In the clash of the titans at Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola, a lone goal from Lola Kanda secured the win for Zesco United who stunned Red Arrows 1-0.

The victory was however not enough to help Zesco United move into the top three as they maintained fourth position on the log with 19 points, on par with the Airmen who have a better goal difference and are third on the log.

Meanwhile, struggling Nkana FC and Power Dynamos who will face off in the Kitwe derby next weekend, bounced back to winning ways by beating Konkola Blades and Mutondo Stars in their respective mid-week fixtures.

Nkana who were humiliated 3-1 by Nkwazi on Sunday picked their second win of the season by beating Blades 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Royd Katuta.

Erick Yema had given Nkana the lead in the 70th minute before Sekanji Siame levelled matters two minutes later.

Katuta scored the winner for Nkana in the third minute of injury time as the Kitwe side picked their second win to move to nine points.

Power Dynamos defeated 10-man Mutondo Stars 2-0 with goals from captain Godfrey Ngwenya and Jacob Kaunda to move to seventh on the log with 17 points.

Ngwenya put Power ahead with a flick in the 33rd minute before Chris Mwansa was red carded for a foul on Joshua Mutale in the dying minutes of the first half.

Kaunda doubled the lead with a thunderous low shot in the 70th minute to complete the rout as Power moved to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes bounced back to winning ways after last weekend’s humiliation to Kabwe Warriors by beating Sensational Zanaco FC 1-0 thanks to George Ngoma’s 44th minute goal in an early kick off at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

At Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, Prison Leopards redeemed themselves by shocking Forest Rangers 2-1.

Goals from David Obash and Mike Mambepa gifted Leopards the win as Moro Amenu scored the consolation goal in the dying minutes for Forest Rangers.
