ACC probes Honey Bee for graft

INVESTIGATIONS into suspected corruption in the manner Honeybee Pharmacy was awarded a contract to supply Medical Kits have reached and advanced stage, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said.

ACC public relations manager, Timothy Moono, said officers had been investigating the Honey Bee allegations since August last year and the exercise would be concluded soon.

Mr Moono said the investigations were instituted arising from information received from a named stakeholder.

He said in a statement that a number of witnesses and suspects had been interviewed and that the investigations had since reached an advanced stage.

“We wish to inform the public that following revelations of suspected corruption in the manner Honeybee Pharmacy was awarded a contract by the Ministry of Health to supply Medical Kits, the Commission has been investigating the above allegations since August 2020.

“The investigations were instituted arising from information received from a named stakeholder. A number of witnesses and suspects have been interviewed and investigations have since reached an advanced stage. The Commission anticipates that the investigations will be concluded soon,” Mr Moono said.

Mr Moono said several individuals and entities had in the past few days contacted the ACC over the matter.

He said the ACC would not relent to bring to book any persons or entities that would be found involved in the corrupt activities.
