KABWE TOWN BATTLES CHOLERA

Seven cholera cases have so far been recorded in Kabwe district with one life lost to the epidemic in the month of December.
Giving a report on Cholera Epidemic Prevention and Preparedness in Kabwe, district on Tuesday, medical officer, Doctor Tize Mfune said the seven cholera cases came from Katondo, Makululu and Kamakuti with one imported case from Chisamba that resulted in death.
“The seven cholera cases, four are from Katondo, Nakululu and Kamakuti one respectively while the other one that resulted in death was an imported case from Chisamba,” said Dr. Mfune.
He said no new cholera cases have been recorded this week following the intensive prevention measures that the district had embarked on.
Dr. Mfune said the district medical office has since intensified efforts to prevent new cases of cholera.
He said so far about 1,800 bottles of chlorine have been distributed in the risk areas as a preventive measure.
Dr.Mfune has since advised members of the public to be wary of cholera and play an active role in its prevention.
