Mucheleka, 4 others to appear in court today

UPND Deputy Secretary-General Patrick Mucheleka and four others charged with malicious damage of government property will today appear before the Kasama Magistrates’ Court for commencement of trial.

Mucheleka and his four co-accused UPND members allegedly on September 13, 2020 damaged two NRC issuance machines and a kiosk, the property of the Ministry of Home Affairs from the workers who were deployed to conduct mobile registration exercise in Kasama’s Chitamba Village.

They will appear before Principal Resident Magistrate Osward Chibalo who is a trial magistrate in the matter.

Mucheleka was charged with Elias Mubanga, Samuel Ngwira, Bwalya Chinyimba and Kelvin Bwalya during Kasama’s Lukashya constituency by-election which was held on September 27, 2020.

The court had earlier granted all the five accused persons a K10, 000 cash bail each.
