ECL not under house arrest – PF

… Public appearances by the former President Edgar Lungu should not unsettle UPND’s incompetent and mediocre leadership, says PF’s Munalula Moola

FORMER Republican President Edgar Lungu is not under house arrest and it is ridiculous for United Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary-General Batuke Imenda and the ruling party to panic over the statesman’s public appearances, Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt media director, Munalula Moola has said.
Mr Moola said in an interview that the UPND should not be unsettled by Mr Lungu’s public appearances if the ruling party was popular and loved by the majority Zambians.
He said Mr Imenda’s remarks against Mr Lungu had exposed the UPND’s weak and mediocre leadership.
Mr Moola was reacting to Mr Imenda’s remarks that Mr Lungu should refrain from making public appearances as if he is still in active politics
He said it was unfortunate that the UPND was always unsettled and panicked whenever Mr Lungu appeared in public because the ruling party was fully aware that the former Head of State was loved and popular on the ground.
“Mr Imenda should know that ECL [Mr Lungu] is not under house arrest and so he should not be stopped from making public appearances, moreover, Zambians feel better to see him in public than they feel seeing some of these UPND leaders.
“Mr Imenda should come out clearly and tell the world if ECL is under house arrest. We are saying so because there was nothing wrong with ECL going shopping and while there share a light moment with shoppers and workers. If Mr Imenda wants to warn anyone , let him go warn the shoppers and the workers and tell them to stop being happy when they see Mr Lungu,” Mr Moola said.

He said Mr Lungu was loved by Zambians and he would continue to hold the respect of majority Zambians regardless of the negative narrative that
