ZESCO FIRE COACH

By MICHAEL MIYOBA
IN unexpected circumstances, 2019 MTN/FAZ Super Division champions Zesco United have reportedly fired head coach George Lwandamina with exactly 27 days to go before the kick off of a new soccer season.

According to the Ndola giants’ Public Relations and Media Officer Desmond Katongo, Lwandamina and Zesco United Football Club management mutually agreed to separate.
Meanwhile, the club’s Chief Executive Officer Richard Mulenga has thanked Lwandamina for his services to the club.
Zesco first hired Lwandamina in 2014, and he won the league and cup double in his first season, retaining the league title the following year.
He also won back to back Zambian Coach of the Year awards before he left to coach Tanzania’s Young Africans from 2016 to 2018.
The former Mufulira Wanderers legend returned to Zesco United in 2018 and went on to win two Super Division titles and one ABSA Cup title before his sudden dismissal.
