ENEMIES of progress such as Joseph Akafumba will cry after the August 12 elections because no outside force will stop President Edgar Lungu from bouncing back to power, says National Democratic Congress acting President Saboi Imboela.
Ms Imboela said President Lungu was still popular and had brought massive development Zambians were witnessing.
She was reacting to remarks attributed to Mr Akafumba that if it was in the UNIP era, even a frog was going to be victorious against Mr Lungu.
But Ms Imboela said that with such remarks it was clear that Mr Akafumba was not a politician, but a technocrat who forced himself into politics.
“In democracy it does not mean that when you don’t like someone then other people don’t like that person and they can’t vote for him.
“Whether he likes it or not Mr Lungu is winning this year’s elections because he is loved by the people of Zambia.
“In 2015 the party only campaigned for a few weeks but won the elections, same applies in 2016, so it is a clear sign that he is wanted by the people of Zambia,” she said.
Ms Imboela advised Mr Akafumba to concentrate on his career as a lawyer because politics was not his role.
She noted that it would be shocking if the PF and President Lungu loses this year’s elections as he has proved to be a good leader by embracing everyone in the party.
According to Mr Akafumba, President Lungu was not qualified to contest the August 12 elections.
