Patriotic Front (PF) members of the central committee will soon announce a successor to take over President Edgar Lungu’s presidency after holding a national conference which will be before the end of the year, says Pf secretary- General Davis Mwila.
MR Mwila however said the process to replace some positions in the Party has since started such as the deputy to MR Nickson Chilengwa and MR Given Lubinda as Vice President.
In an interview, Mr Mwila said the process which started just after the party lost the August 12, 2021 general elections would soon be finalised. Mr Mwila said he was aware that some people had already started causing confusion and divisions in the party especially those who wished to take over its presidency.
He said very soon the party will announce the successful candidates to take over the affairs of the party after holding a general conference which is expected to be held before the end of this year. Mr Mwila said the party will ensure that the person who will take charge as party President should be scrutinised properly and be a people’s choice.
He appealed to party members across the country to remain patient and not to start causing anarchy due to desperation. And Mr Mwila also said some party members have been going round peddling lies that he was not ready to hand over his position as Secretary General. He said the party has excellent and educated leaders who should fill in all positions once they are declared vacant.
