FISHING EXPEDITION ENDS IN ATTACK, SERENJE MAN ATTACKED BY CROCODILE SUSTAINS WOUNDS

A 32-year-old man is admitted to Serenje district hospital nursing multiple wounds which he sustained when a crocodile attacked him.

Abshy Mwape of Chisomo valley told ZANIS in an interview from his hospital bed that he was attacked by the reptile a fortnight ago when he was hauling a fishing net from the Lukusashi river.

Mwape, who sustained crocodile bites on both legs, hands and on the left eye said he wrestled with the crocodile for a long before he managed to get to safety.

“It was very early in the morning that I got attacked by a crocodile as I was trying to remove a net from the river,” Mwape explained.

He has thanked the medical staff at the institution for the health care rendered to him.

And Serenje district Acting Medical Officer Kelvin Mwila described Mwape’s condition as stable.

“He is now out of danger, he is stable. We took him to theatre yesterday to repair his left eyelid which was damaged,” Dr. Mwila adding that Mwape will remain in hospital for another week.
