Kapiri Council gives relief to outlets

By KETRA KALUNGA

KAPIRI Mposhi Town Council has entered into a payment plan agreement with the business community to help outlets survive in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The local authority has thus directed revenue collectors not to close businesses whose owners have not yet been engaged by the council on the payment plan. Council public relations manager, Chris Mulaliki, said yesterday that the local authority was aware that most businesses were facing operational challenges due to the pandemic.

Mr Mulaliki said the council was committed to providing an enabling environment for businesses in the district to flourish. “We are aware that since the outbreak of Covid-19, people have been facing challenges in running their businesses such that they are having challenges in paying for business licenses,” he said.

He said the council has since urged those that had not come up with a payment plan to do so and ensure that they operated within the law.
