We want Kambwili – UPND

WE are not ashamed to court Chishimba Kambwili because it is true that wherever he will go, the Copperbelt will follow him and we want to use that numerical advantage to our advantage in 2021 if he agrees to work with us, the UPND has said.

But Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba said it was typical of UPND to get rejects from PF even when it was clear that the “deadwood” they were wasting time on added no value to it winning an election.

Sinazongwe UPND spokesperson George Bbabbi said the fact that everyone in the PF was talking about Mr Kambwili after expelling him was testimony that he was a political heavyweight and not a nonentity and loner that they had branded him to be.

Mr. Bbabbi said UPND’s critics were free to say anything they wanted over the matter but that nothing will stop them from working with Mr. Kambwili if he agreed because they knew that he would add value to garnering votes from the Copperbelt in 2021.

He said those who were ridiculing Mr. Kambwili for asking for forgiveness from the Tongas were only doing so because they realised that if the UPND partnered with him, the opposition political party was headed for victory because the Roan MP was a crowd-puller who did not only win elections in Roan because of the PF strength but because of his own political stamina.

But Mr, Kamba said it was sad that UPND never learnt lessons from welcoming finished politicians with the hope of winning elections.

He said there were a number of “spent forces” who had crossed the floor with the hope of adding value to the UPND but still lost elections lamentably.

He cited people like Miles Sampa, Guy Scott, Mulenga Sata, Silvia Masebo, and Obvious Mwaliteta as being among a horde of rejects from PF who went to the UPND thinking they would garner votes but still lost the 2016 elections.
