The Zambia Police has refuted reports that it has exhumed the body of former National Democratic Congress -NDC youth Chairman Obed Kasongo stating that the news is fake news.
Social Media has been awash with reports that the Zambia Police had exhumed the body of Mr Kasongo so as to do a fresh autopsy report.
Mr. Kasongo was in 2019 assaulted in a Political fracas between suspected PF members and NDC supporters during Parliamentary by election by in Roan Constituency.
According to an autopsy report then, Mr. Kasongo was treated for Hypertension and Severe Malaria and further showed that the deceased had viral infections and suffered from Pulmonary Edema which can be caused by viral infections such as the Hantavirus and dengue virus or exposure to certain toxins.
But Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the reports that the Police have exhumed the body are fake as no such occurrence has taken place.
Mr Hamoonga could however not confirm nor deny on whether the police had re-opened the case as per reports circulating.
