I’AM hopeful that the police post which has turned into a white elephant and has not been operational from the time it was completed a year ago would start operations soon, Mwembeshi Ward 12 Councillor, Kelvin Kaunda has said.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Kaunda assured residents of Lusaka’s Barlastone area that the police post would soon be operational as was evident with the recent on the spot check of the facility by Lusaka Police Commissioner, Nelson Phiri. According to Mr. Kaunda, the Lusaka Province police chief assured him that he would do everything possible to see to it that the police post became operational soon.

“We had the Lusaka Province police commissioner who visited the police post last week and we are very hopeful that we should be able to open the police post very soon.

We are waiting to be guided by the police commissioner who showed willingness that it will be opened soon,” said Mr Kaunda.

Mr Kaunda also highlighted on the challenge of the unplanned road network in the area which he attributed to residents’ failure to place roads as a priority when buying plots.

He urged residents who sold plots at their farms to take into account the road and drainage system in the area.
