GLOBAL Roofing Solutions (GRS) has made an investment of US $50 million into the production of roofing sheets and is expected to invest about US $10 to US $12 million in the next one and a half years, general manager, Jack Stolk, has said.

Mr. Stolk said the investment was of benefit to the local people as the company was a Zambian registered company and employed locals.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Stolk said the company had brought competition to the manufacturing of roofing sheets in Zambia, adding that they had concentrated mainly on quality products.

“We have made an investment of US $50 million and we hope to make an added investment of about US $10 million to US $12 million into the production of roofing sheets in the next one and a half years, “he said.

He said the investment would benefit local people because the company employed Zambians.

He said the company was in the country for a long term because of the business opportunities available.

“We are happy to be operating in Zambia and we can safely say our investment is a long term one because of the interest we have in the Zambian market,’’ he said.

He said the company stood for quality in the production of goods and that while it supported local producers of raw materials, it was difficult to do so if they compromised the quality.

Mr Stolk advised local producers of raw materials to stock quality products if they were to attract their market.
