G12 record increase pass rate

A TOTAL of 81, 838 candidates out of the 121, 871 candidates who sat for the 2021 Grade 12 internal examinations have obtained school certificates. 

Meanwhile 2, 124 of the 121, 871 candidates who sat for the examinations have failed representing a decrease of 0.99 national failure rate.

Education Minister Douglas Syakalima explained that the results represented 67.15 percent of those that sat for the examinations and an increase of 3.22 percentage points from the 63.93 percent school certificate pass rate during the 2020 school certificate examinations. 

Mr Syakalima said a further analysis by gender has revealed that 41, 459 representing 67.54 percent of the 61, 385 boys and 40, 379 representing 66.76 percent of the 60, 486 girls who sat for the examinations obtained the school certificates. 

This meant that boys only performed slightly better than girls.

Mr Syakalima said the highest percentage mean score was recorded in Design and Technology at 66.22 percent while the lowest was recorded in Mathematics at 23.91 percent.
