RESIDENTS of Kabushi Constituency in Ndola have bemoaned the lack of piped clean water in the area after a truck drove over one of the pipes and it burst.

Patriotic Front Kabushi Constituency Publicity Secretary Lyson Chingandu has complained that since the accident,  Mukuba ward in the area had been hit by water shortage.

Mr Chingandu appealed to Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company to quickly fix the problem because people were infuriated and running out of patience.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Kabushi, Mr Chingandu noted that residents are experiencing challenges of getting  safe water as a result of the broken pipe .

“The problem was caused when a truck drove over one of the water pipes, causing it to burst.

“Since then, Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company sent its workers to turn off the water from the main water supply leaving the residents without any proper water source for days.

“I have been trying to reach the area councillor for Mukuba ward, Edgar Changwe so that he could come and sort out this issue but he is nowhere to be found.

“It is the councillor’s job to see how the people in a particular ward are living and working so that they could give their findings to the Member of Parliament who in this case is Mr Bowman Lusambo,” Mr. Chingandu noted.

And Melody Kabwe a resident of Kabushi Constituency lamented over the lack of water in the area.

Ms Kabwe accused the water company of being aware of the problem but kept promising it would look into the matter.

When contacted, Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company Public Relations Officer Faless Mwanza assured the residents that the matter would soon be sorted out.
