1, 000 Teacher jobs coming

THE Ministry of General Education has been granted treasury authority to employ 1, 000 staff this year.

General Education Minister Dennis Wanchinga says those to be employed include not only teachers but support staff as well.

Dr. Wanchinga has also disclosed that he has engaged President Edgar Lungu on the possibility of employing more teachers during the year. Speaking when he addressed teachers in Mwense at Mambilima Secondary School, Dr. Wanchinga said he is confident that the request for more teacher recruitment will be granted. He appealed to unemployed teachers to be patient as Government mobilises resources for their eventual recruitment.

And Ministry of General Education acting Senior Human Resources Officer Ignatius Matewe said the ministry will do an assessment of staff shortages before the recruitment exercise starts. At the same meeting, acting Director of Projects in the ministry Joseph Phiri said the government has embarked on a rehabilitation exercise of damaged desks and chairs as a cost saving measure. –  ZNBC
