Arrows pierce Warriors

RED hot Arrows gave the ‘not so’ Magnificent Kabwe Warriors a 1-0 defeat at Godfrey Chitalu stadium during a week 27 FAZ MTN midweek encounter.

The airmen took the lead in the 14th minute through Bruce Musakanya when he volleyed in a header from a corner kick.

Arrows seemed to have been in command of the game as the lukewarm Warriors team displayed multiple faults especially in the front line.

The victory now lifts the airmen to 37 points, a point above Warriors, and may elevate their standing as they meet Lusaka Tigers in a home encounter.

Warriors were yet to shunt themselves into a winning rail after going four games without a win but technical committee chairperson Mike Chirwa said their next game at Forest Rangers will be different.

Chirwa regretted the many chances lost.

Warriors may have to meet relegation faced Forest without inspirational defender Marcel Kalonda who was substituted after picking a knock and walked out with a bandaged knee.

“We missed a lot of chances but we need to reorganise ourselves and aim at an outright win when we meet Forest on Sunday,” said Chirwa.

But Arrows coach Hector Chilombo said that the win was a morale booster as it has placed them ahead of Warriors. He hailed his soldiers for scoring and defending.

“We aimed for an outright win and we wanted to score more goals.

‘‘This is a happy victory for us and we hope to repeat it when we host Lusaka Tigers in the next game,” said Chilombo.

Warriors’ loss was also particularly blamed on the coach Muhamad Fathi whose blood the supporters are calling for, and the poor officiating by Luanshya referee Leah Namukonde.
