Barotseland independence on course-Ngambela

The independence of Barotseland is on course and will be achieved without any shedding of blood, Ngambela Clement Sinyinda has said.
Mr Sinyinda claimed Barotseland would soon be a nation on its own, adding that the issue of secession as advocated for by the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) was a complex one which some people may not understand.
Mr Sinyinda said the proceedings had reached an irreversible stage and appealed to the people of Western Province to exercise patience as they march to freedom.
Mr Ngambela announced this when the people of Barotseland celebrated (coliso) the 12th anniversary of their King Lubosi Imwiko II in power at the weekend.
He said it was time the people of Western Province were informed on the proceedings and the way forward, in line with the decision by the Lozis to secede from the rest of Zambia.
Mr Sinyinda asked for support from people as they were advocating for freedom, adding that, “the road to freedom should be done in a peaceful manner.”
He advised people of Barotseland to guard their land jealously and encourage them to invest more in agricultural activities.
Hundreds of people flocked to Limulunga Royal Palace at the weekend following the announcement by the Ngambela to address them on the way forward over the issues affecting the area.
However, the Ngambela dispelled allegations by some people, that the Royal establishment had been bribed by the Zambian government to withdraw the struggle for total independence of Barotseland.
And residents who attended the meeting expressed happiness that their leaders had found time to inform them about what was going on.
Victor Mukubesa, a resident of Limulunga said many people in the area had exercised patience because of the assurance from their leaders.
Mr Mukubesa told the Daily Nation that it was time the people of Barotseland to realise the benefits of being citizens, adding that such a move by the BRE was giving hope to people.
The ceremony attracted all senior chiefs and Indunas in Western Province.
