GOVERNMENT has emphasised the need for a change of mindset among Zambians for the country to achieve its goals in the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP).

And National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili disclosed that her ministry was in talks with the ministry of National Development Planning to work together on developing a programme on mindset change management through the application of  formulated  values and principles.

Rev. Sumaili said this yesterday in Lusaka during the launch of a Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) themed, “The importance of mindset shift in the implementation of 7NDP.”

Rev.Sumaili explained that the implementation of the 7NDP is anchored on an integrated multi-sectoral development approach which calls for Zambia’s transformation towards social-economic development.

She indicated that the nation needed an attitude and behavioural change tailored towards transforming the national development pathways.

And speaking earlier at the same function, PMRC executive director Bernadette Deka explained that the launched publication promotes embracing of national ethics and mindset shift towards a positive Zambian identity.

Ms Deka said the main recommendation of the publication was to promote patriotism among Zambians. “The reason why mindset is vital among citizens is because citizens are the ones who bear the results of development and transformation,” she said.
