COPPERBELT Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe has cautioned civil servants to desist from reckless consumption of beer as this affects productivity.

“Most government officials love drinking and we cannot stop people from drinking but they should at least do it moderately after working hours keeping in mind that they will be working the next day,” he said.

Mr. Nundwe was speaking during the launch of the HIV/AIDs self- testing kits at the Provincial office in Ndola yesterday.

He also noted that there was a lot of importance attached to issues of HIV and AIDs in the country, hence, people should respect their own status and take responsibility for their lives.

He explained that the self-testing kits could be used in the comfort of one’s home, not forgetting that it was important to be factual and take the results to the nearest health facility to get advice based on the outcome of the results.

Mr Nundwe said HIV and AIDs was very critical and real where medicines had not been found to date adding that what was important was one’s attitude towards their health.

“Zambia cannot develop as a country if the majority of the citizens are not healthy, therefore, it is vital that we all display the most brilliant behaviour.

And the Provincial Medical officer, Construction Mwale thanked noted that the self-testing kits were very important as many people desired condentiality, convenience and privacy.
