ZAMBIA has invited a leading Chinese company, Metal Mining Company (CMC), to visit Zambia and explore mining and energy investment opportunities, according to a statement from Foreign Affairs public relations officer Dorcas Chileshe.

Nathaniel Mubukwanu, leader of the delegation of 11 Zambian ministers attending a developmental workshop in China, extended the invitation when his team visited CMC in Beijing yesterday.

Mr Mubukwanu assured CMC that its investment would be safe because of Zambia’s political stability.

CMC vice-president Li Fuli expressed his company’s interest to invest in Zambia, adding that the visit by the ministers had provided an opportunity to learn about investment procedures and interact with Zambian Government leaders.

Mr Li described the visit as a step that would further strengthen bilateral ties between China and Zambia.

Earlier, the Zambian delegation learned about strategies which China had been implementing to ensure economic development in all its regions.

Chinese National Development and Reform Commission deputy secretary general Hengshan Fan told the delegation during the workshop that the Chinese government had succeeded in boosting economic development in all its regions due to its deliberate policy to prioritise development in poverty-stricken regions.

During their 10-day visit to China, the ministers would interact with Chinese investors and share investment opportunities available in the 10 provinces of Zambia with the view of boosting economic development in all parts of the country.
