NKANA striker, Walter Bwalya, says his country mate and former Zesco United striker, Idris Mbombo, will be able to help the 12 times league champions from Wusakile achieve their targets during the 2018 soccer season.

Speaking in an interview from Kitwe, Bwalya who played with Mbombo in Congo before the two players moved to Zambia said Mbombo is a great player who will be able to help Beston Chambeshi’s boys compete fairly in the CAF Confederations Cup and the local league which is expected to kick off next month.

“Idris, I know Idris very well because I played with him during our days in Congo. I played with him for a long time so I understand him. “He is a good player who came to help us (Nkana) so that we can see how far we can go this season,” Bwalya said.

Coach Beston Chambeshi is spoiled for choice as he has more striking options this year compared to last season.

Nkana have confirmed the signing of Mbombo and four other players as the team prepares to compete in the CAF Confederations Cup this year.

Mbombo joined Nkana on a one- year loan deal from Al- Shabab F.C of Saudi Arabia, the club he joined last year from Zesco United.

Nkana have also captured striker Humphrey Maseneko who has made a permanent move to Wusakile from Zesco United.

Maseneko joins strikers such as former Red Arrows top man Festus Mbewe who returned to Wusakile after his exploits in Lusaka.

The four top men join striker Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba who scooped Nkana’s most disciplined player of the year award for the 2017 soccer season.

Nkana will start their CAF Confederation Cup campaign at the first round stage after being put on bye during the preliminary phase.
