THE ‘Know Your Neighbour’ project, a community based initiative aimed at dealing with crime and garbage collection in Lusaka’s Matero Constituency has enticed 12 top Zambian artistes.

Originator of the initiative who is Kapwepwe 25 councillor, Patrick Salubusa said the project, to be launched on February 2nd 2018, will start with a march past from Lilanda market to Kalukungu market where entertainment would be provided and awards presented.

Mr Salubusa said the project would be officiated by Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba who would present awards to winners in categories among them the cleanest house, institution and the green awards courtesy of Top Star and Manja Pamodzi.

“This team work spirit is deserved as it brings people together to speak with one voice to achieve a goal,” said Mr Salubusa.

He commended the Swedish International Center for Local Democracy  (ICLD) for recognising the KYN concept as a quickest way to responding to garbage and crime related issues through organizing and facilitating local and international workshops designed to take the project to another level.

Regarding musicians’ participation in the programme, Mr Salubusa explained that the local artistes would use music and celebrity status to call for a clean and safe community.

He expressed gratitude to Lusaka City Council (LCC) for supporting the project since inception mid last year.
