LUPOSOSHI Member of Parliament Bwalya Chungu has cautioned all mayors, councillors and council chairpersons of Northern Province against abusing the 20 percent Equalisation Fund meant for the development of wards on sitting and travelling allowances.

Mr Chungu advised civic leaders to properly utilise the 20 percent Equalisation Fund for capital projects by channelling it to the development of the wards.

In a statement issued yesterday, he urged the leaders of the council not to abuse the funds on sitting and travelling allowances.

The lawmaker said this at Vincent Bulaya in Lunte during a PF Lunte district ‘indaba’ which was hosted by Lunte MP Mutotwe Kafwaya MP on Sunday.

“All mayors, council chairpersons and councillors of Northern Province must use the 20 percent Equalization Fund for capital projects for the development of the wards and not to abuse it on sitting and travelling allowances,” he said

Mr Chungu called on mayors, council chairpersons and councillors to work hard and remain in constant touch with the grassroots as they were the ones that put them in power.
