Expelled MMD National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has maintained that party President Dr Nevers Mumba is an imposter who should not be trusted with the leadership of the party.

Major Kachingwe said the decision by Dr Mumba to expel him from the party had no blessings from the National Executive Committee (NEC) because he was the elected national secretary for the party.

He charged that Dr Mumba was not telling the truth about his membership with the reformed party.

“Dr Mumba is a conman, he is a liar. He can say his membership with the party was later sorted out by the former national secretary Katele Kalumba when late president Mwanawasa rejected it in 2008.

“President Mwanawasa was with some people in that meeting but why was Katele Kalumba alone? Dr Mumba is a pastor but he has no truth in his mouth.

“He has no powers to expel me and no one can bar from getting into the secretariat. My term comes to an end in 2016.

“I decided to invalidate Mumba’s position because he fraudulently organised credentials to dupe the party.

I am the national secretary and am supposed to notify NEC of the developments in the party, I call for the NEC meeting and not him,” Kachingwe said.

Major Kachingwe wondered why Dr Mumba had failed to say the truth when he was a Pastor who was expected to tell the truth.

He said challenged Pastor Mumba to tell the nation why he was forming parallel structures that were not running under the secretariat with the help of hooligans he had hired to the party.

Dr Mumba’s decision to expel major Kachingwe was arrived at after the National Secretary invalidated his position as President of the party.

Major Kachingwe in his letter to Dr Mumba said “It has come to the attention of the Party that your membership to the Party was not valid at the time of the convention based on the following provisions of the Party Constitution.

The letter stated that according to Article 6 (ii) a member who is expelled from the party may be considered for re-admission upon re-application to the national executive committee.

“Following your expulsion from the party by NEC in 2005, your application for re-admission was rejected in February 2008 at a meeting chaired by then the Party “President late Dr Levy Mwanawasa. Some members that attended the meeting were Hon Kabinga Pande, Lt Ronnie Shikapwasha and Mutale Nalumango among others.

“Despite this rejection, you fraudulently organised credentials which you presented to the election committt3ee during the convention.

He said under article 4 (a) (3) states that “to be accorded membership a person must not be a member of any other political party inZambia”.

“According to the records at the Registrar of Societies, you are appearing on the Registrar of the Reform Party as its President. A copy of the register has been enclosed herewith for your perusal.

“As consequent of the above, by copy of this letter serves to inform you that I have invalidated your election to the position of the MMD President with immediate effect because you were not a member of the Party at the time of election and you still are not a member even at the moment,” read Kachingwe’s letter to Dr Mumba.

Major Kachingwe has however said no one would chase him from the secretariat because he rented that place.

He said Dr Mumba would never rise to the leadership of the party and that he did not locus standii to expel him.

“He is already out of the party if he is taking shortcuts. He is a conman and that man who said stop Nevers before he stops MMD was correct. Nevers will never see leadership in this country. He has started a battle that he will never win,” Kachingwe vowed.
