PRESSURE is mounting to investigate Chibefwe ward Councillor Geshom Musonda and old Itala market committee in Mkushi over stall plots scam allocation which resulted into 16 stalls being unreceipted.

Joining the band wagon is the Mkushi youths District Coordinating committee who have expressed disappointment and accused Mkushi District Council of failing to take action against the allegedly erring councillor to pave way for investigations.

The youths said this in a press statement made available to the Daily Nation issued by their district coordinator Bright Mumba.

Mr. Mumba among other things complained that the ADHOC committee was instituted by the local authority to investigate the stall plots activities where community members submitted their views but the findings were not known until it was reported in the media.

Mr. Mumba further said youths in the area are wondering where Councillor Musonda got powers of allocating stall plots when there was Lands Department headed by the District Planning Officer (DPO) at the Council.

“In this regard, we want to know what role did the Council play in the Itala market stall plots? We also want to find out the role which was given to the market committee which seem not to agree and work together with the area Councillor,” Mr. Mumba said.

The District youth leader said in this view, all youth groups in the vicinity are in support of Itala market committee secretary for taking a bold decision to expose the ills surrounding stall plots allocation which have left behind a lot of speculations in the community.

Mr. Mumba said following the revelations, youths in the area have since called on the investigating wings to take keen interest and quickly come in to ensure that justice prevails on the matter.
