Prosecution rests in Precious Longwe’s theft case

THE State has closed its prosecution in Precious Longwe’s K200, 000 alleged theft from BancABC where she was an employee.

In this case, 32-year-old Precious Longwe is charged with theft of K200, 000 from BancABC.

Longwe was convicted for murdering her husband by shooting him five times in an earlier case.

It is alleged that Longwe, of house number 19 off Buluwe Road in Woodlands, Lusaka, allegedly stole the money on May 24th 2016, in Lusaka, from BancABC, where she was employed as a customer service officer.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old male clinical medical student at Citizen University has pleaded not guilty to one count of unlawful possession of obscene materials, namely photographs and cinematographs which tend to corrupt morals.

When the matter came up before magistrate Felix Kaoma for plea and after the Director of Public Prosecution’s consent was issued, Joel Sikaneta denied the charge.

It is alleged that Sikaneta between January 1st 2017 and November 29th 2017 in Lusaka had in his possession obscene materials namely photographs and cinematographs which tends to corrupt morals.

The accused is believed to have between June and December, 2017 swindled seven females using nine fake Facebook accounts opened in different names.

Sikaneta is remanded in custody until he meets the bail conditions of K10, 000 in his own recognizance with two working sureties.

The matter has been adjourned to January 30th 2018 for commencement of trial.
