Zambia lacks leaders with political will to take the country to greater heights of economic development, says opposition United Party for National Development (UPND)

UPND Western Province youth chairperson Shadreck Mungomba said many political leaders were failing to seriously reflect on issues affecting development.

Mr Mung’omba  told the Nation that leaders should start to show signs of maturity and help in the development of the nation instead of wasting time on trivial issues.

He Zambia would always lag behind because of poor leadership that was being displayed by people who were supposed to provide workable programmes.

He called  on the leadersto desist from attacking each other because they played a vital role in the governance of the nation.

He cited opposition FDD leader Edith Nawakwi  who had been attacking UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema instead of the two working together in an effort to help President Sata deliver to the Zambian people.

“It is sad to see leaders who are supposed to give direction to the younger generation wash dirty linen in public. We are finding it difficult to understand why Ms Nawakwi has embarked on a programme of attacking fellow political leaders.

“She is supposed to prove to the female folk that as a woman she had respect for other people. As UPND in Western Province we won’t allow such hatred towards our party president or any other political leader who is trying to help the current government,

“As youths we are not happy. We expect these leaders to work together and help this nation move forward. We appeal to Ms Nawakwi to concentrate on helping the current leadership with serious issues and attacking other political parties for whatever reasons,” he said

He said if Ms Nawakwi was a hired political gun for the ruling PF, she should rethink her position because that would retard the development of Zambia.

Mr Mung’omba said political party leaders had a duty to play in the development of Zambia and it was sad that some of them think Zambia would develop by insults.
