KIFUBWA Bridge in Solwezi which was a link to the central business district has been washed away following heavy rain last week, effectively cutting off villagers in the area.

This has resulted in people failing to access various services such as health. The bridge was located 16km away from the central business district.

And the Solwezi Municipal Council has assured the people in the area that it was doing everything possible to ensure that the bridge was worked on.

Council public relations officer Moses Ngosa told the Daily Nation in interview that it would move on site and ensure that the bridge was worked on so that people could access the services.

He said the council acknowledges the fact that the affected people are inconvenienced because the people are finding it difficult to cross to the other side.

He said the council was planning on how to mobilise resources while the drawings and sketches for the bridge had already been done.

‘’People should not panic because very soon we will be moving on site to work on the bridge,’’ he said.

He said the local authority was committed to ensure that works were expedited to help the affected families continue conducting their daily activities.

He further appealed to the people in the area to cooperate.
