THE Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA) Zambia has bemoaned the rising sexual abuse cases against women and girls.

In a statement, MeTA Zambia coordinator Lyoka Lyoka said the sexual abuse of women and girls had reached alarming levels. “The latest video of a small girl, probably less than five years of age, performing oral sex on a man is such a horrific, shameful and barbaric act of blatant evil.

“The video, which seems to have gone viral on various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, is grotesque to say the least,” Mr. Lyoka said.

He said the man in the video was a monster that deserved to face the full wrath of the law.

Mr. Lyoka noted that no child should ever go through what the small girl in the video had experienced.

“Article 14.1 of the African Charter, on the rights and welfare of the child, states that every child shall have the right to enjoy the best attainable state of physical, mental and spiritual health.

“As Medicines Transparency Alliance Zambia, we have lodged a complaint with the Zambia Police against the perpetrators of this act and would like to call upon all relevant law enforcement agencies, including ZICTA, and all other investigative wings to track down the source of this video and establish if this act was done in or outside Zambia,” he said.

Mr. Lyoka said if it was in Zambia, the perpetrator should be brought to book as soon as possible.

MeTA Zambia is an organisation that promotes countrywide sexual and reproductive health and rights, through provision of accessible and affordable quality sexual reproductive health commodities for young children.
