THE University of Zambia (UNZA) Great East road campus whose opening was postponed in the wake of the cholera epidemic will remain shut because of the poor sanitation facilities, says Ministry of Higher Education permanent secretary Mabvuto Phiri.

And 15 new cholera cases have been recorded in Lusaka in the last 24 hours.

Mr Phiri said UNZA was a unique case due to its dilapidated old infrastructure which required colossal sums of money and manpower to rehabilitate compared to other universities.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Phiri noted that there was need to pay particular attention to infrastructure at the institution and deal with issue of over-enrolment of students.
