THE World Boxing Council (WBC) has ordered a rematch between Zambia’s Lo-lita Muzeya and Malawian Ruth Chisale.

The WBC cited irregularities in the manner in which the women’s welterweight elimination bout staged on December 30, 2017 in Lusaka where Muzeya won by unanimous points was conducted.

The Chisale camp disputed the result and appealed to WBC women’s committee and demanded a rematch.

“Due to the fact that WBC did not appoint the ring officials that worked the fight which ended up being for eight instead of 10 rounds, the WBC will order an immediate rematch between Lolita Muzeya and Ruth Chisale which will be a final eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger for WBC women’s world welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus,” the letter read in part.

The boxing board clearly ordered for a 10 round fight which would be supervised by a WBC official.

WBC instructed both camps to start free negotiations and sign contracts by February 28.
