NATIONAL goalkeeper Jacob Banda says Zambia has a quality team capable of shooting down the Super Eagles of Nigeria in next weekend’s 2018 Russia World Cup tie at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Speaking after a training session in Ndola yesterday, Banda said the players’ morale was high and the determination was inspiring.

He said he had faith in the technical bench and the teammates that they will put up a good game.

“The atmosphere in camp is very okay and we are cooperating well with the new coach Wedson Nyirenda. This is a crucial game and we have to put in the best. I believe we have a good team that can overcome Nigeria. What is important is adequate preparation,” he said.

He said the team knows what is at stake and they will not leave anything to chance.

“I believe it is every player’s aim to ensure Zambia wins the opening group qualifier. We are playing at home and hence have to follow the coaches’ instructions,” he said.

Striker Roderick Kabwe said the players were focusing on the game.

“Coach Nyirenda is a friendly man and so far the training is going well. I have no doubt we will be 100 percent ready by next week,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 20 professional players drafted in the Nigerian team are scheduled to begin arriving in camp on October 2.

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr said he was monitoring the playing form of all the professionals called to the team.

“I have kept tub of all the professionals playing abroad. I am expecting a full house by Wednesday. We will not leave anything to chance,” he said.

Rohr’s list includes Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho , Arsenal young sensation Alex Iwobi and Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa.

Others include Victor Moses, Kenneth Omeruo, Elderson Echiejile, Ogenyi Onazi, Nosa Igiebor, Brown Ideye and John Obi Mikel.
