President Edgar Lungu donates bicycles to North headmen

 By NATION REPORTER

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has donated 3250 bicycles in the first phase to headmen in Northern Province to ease their movement as they serve their subjects.

Meanwhile, traditional leaders in Northern Province have endorsed President Lungu for the August 12 general elections.

Northern Province permanent secretary, Royd Chakaba, said President Lungu respects traditional leaders whom he works with to ensure development and quality service delivery.

The handover ceremony was held at the Paramount Chief Chitimukulu’s palace in Mungwi District.

“All the 13 constituencies in Northern province will benefit from this empowerment of bicycles to ensure we ease movement of the traditional leaders as they visit their subjects to address various challenges that they are facing,” he said.

Mr Chakaba said 3250 bicycles would be distributed to all the 13 constituencies in the first phase of the empowerment to ensure all the headmen receive the bicycles.

Receiving the bicycles on behalf of his constituents, Malole Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Yaluma said terrains in the province were bad, hence the bicycles would ease the movement of traditional leaders.

Lubasenshi MP, George Mwamba, urged the people not to make a mistake of voting for the opposition as they risked losing the benefits that they were currently enjoying.

And traditional leaders have welcomed President Lungu’s gesture of distributing the bicycles.
