I have moved my office to the Central Business District (CBD) to personally supervise the Lusaka City Council (LCC) in picking up garbage, mayor of Lusaka Miles Sampa has said.
Mr Sampa said he has dedicated seven days to supervise the council workers to ensure the CBD was cleaned-up. He said the decision to work from the CBD was as a result of several complaints from concerned residents over the unsanitary condition due to uncollected heaps of garbage in Lusaka.
The mayor said from Thursday last week, he has been operating from CBD LUSAKA MAYOR ‘SHIFTS’ OFFICE TO TOWN TO COLLECT GARBAGE to ensure that the work was done without delay. . “I have moved my office to CBD to personally supervise LCC workers picking up Garbage.
Our records show huge expense on fuel collecting garbage but the impact on the ground is hardly seen. So I am now based in a ka marque 24:00 hours along Freedom Way getting garbage collected. CBD has and will be garbage free,” he said. The Mayor added that collection of garbage started from Freedom Way and will proceed to Cairo and Lumumba Road.
