By SILUMESI MALUMO and OLIVER SAMBOKO

CHISHIMBA Kambwili yesterday unreservedly apologised to President Edgar Lungu for accusing him of being a drug dealer and all the anguish he had caused the first family.

Mr Kambwili asked President Lungu and Mr Vadley Findlay to take time and forgive him as he was misinformed on the matter.

Mr Kambwili said he commented on the matter as insinuated by some section of the media without verifying facts.

“What I am going to say today is what the late Father Charles Chilinda wanted to see. During my self-imposed political hibernation I have reflected on a number of issues that I thought I should address today. I want to unreservedly apologise to the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Edgar Lungu for the misunderstanding that he is a drug dealer as insinuated by some sections of the media then. I shall also be quick to mention that at no time did I verify the information I was given regarding Mr Valden Findlay who I also unreservedly apologise to.

“Am human and subject to err, it is prudent that President Lungu and Mr Findlay find it in their hearts to forgive me. I tender this apology, without any prejudice or malice,” Mr Kambwili said.

He said that it was time to flip the page and promote the brotherly love.

However, NDC vice president Edward Mumbi aid Mr Kambwili’s apology was not genuine and only meant to hoodwink the State into entering a nolle prosequi in his criminal cases.

Mr Mumbi said the embattled NDC leader was seeking to be discharged from the courts of law to enable him contest for the Presidency

“This is a man who went to the extent of calling the Head of State a dog from Chawama then today he can hold a press conference and say he is sorry, not genuine,” he said.

And Mr Kambwili said he would soon inform NDC members the next direction after the failed alliance with the UPND.
