Lubinda opts out of Kabwata parley race

LONG serving Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda has not applied to defend his Kabwata constituency seat under the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr. Lubinda confirmed in a telephone interview that he did not apply to re contest the seat.

He could not give reasons why he did not apply for re adoption, adding that he will only issue a statement tomorrow.

Mr. Lubinda who is serving in Cabinet as Minister of Justice is one of the longest serving lawmakers who has served the people of Kabwata for more than 20 years.

He was first elected as Kabwata MP in 2001 under the United Party for National Development.

Five candidates have applied to stand on the PF ticket in Kabwata.

These are Presidential Empowerment Fund national coordinator Clement Tembo, former Lusaka mayor Mulenga Sata, Emmanuel Chanda, Gabriel Kibombwe and Danny Yenga.

The five candidates where yesterday interviewed at the PF constituency office.
