MUSHINDAMO Girls Technical High School has received a solar hammermill out of the six presidential mills allocated to Mushindamo district.
District commissioner Benson Ngambo told the Daily Nation in an interview that the hammermill would help the school become school self-sustaining and consequently result in the reduction of school fees.
He said there was an outcry from members of the public who have been failing to enroll their children at that school due to high school fees.
‘’The whole idea is to make the school self-sustaining so that it can start generating funds and reduce dependence on government grants,” he said.
He disclosed that once the hammermill became operational, it would not only be producing mealie- meal but also stock feed to be used in fish farming.
‘’Already you can see that there is value addition,” he added.
He said the contractor had already moved on site and had been directed to complete the installation on time so that the people of Mushindamo can begin to see the benefit of the presidential solar hammer mill initiative.
