LUBAMBE MINE HAS NEW CEO

By ROGERS KALERO

TIM Duffy, an international mining executive, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for Lubambe Copper Mine (LCM).

LCM Board Chairman Owen Hegarty said Mr Duffy has taken over from Nick Bowen who was retiring after a 40 year career.

Mr Hegarty said, in addition to his executive experience for 30 years, Mr Duffy has a detailed understanding of broader corporate challenges such as the impact on environmental, social and governance factors

“Prior to joining Lubambe, Mr Duffy was Vice President Director and CEO of PT Agincourt Resources in Indonesia. During this time, he was part of a team which developed a greenfield gold project into the highly successful Martable Gold Mine,’’ Mr Hegarty said.

Lubambe mine was expected to expand to 160,000 tonnes in concentrates, with an initial mine life of 30 years.

The outgoing LCM Chief Executive Officer announced in August that the extension project was currently the highest grade and largest under-developed copper resource in the World “Following the complexion of the recent drilling programme, the Extension Resource now stands at 235 million tonnes of copper-cobalt ore at an average grade of 3.65 per cent of Total copper, 0.05 per cent cobalt at a cut-off grade of 2.0 per cent and has a further opportunity for growth
