POLICE APPREHEND ONE OF THE POLITICAL CADRES WHO HARRASSED A CIVIL SERVANT AT THE MINISTRY OF WORKS AND SUPPLY.

ONE of the political cadres who harassed a civil servant at the Ministry of Works and Supply on Tuesday has been apprehended by the police.

Charles Kakula, aged 24 of Kamwala South in Lusaka was apprehended in connection with a video circulating on social media platforms depicting purported Patriotic Front cadres hounding out from office a civil servant on political grounds.

Secretary to Cabinet, Simon Miti has also instructed that disciplinary action be taken against Works and Supply Permanent Secretary, Lennox Kalonde for failing to act against an harassment which took place in his presence.

Police deputy public relations officer, Danny Mwale said the suspect was in police custody.

And authorities have condemned the intimidation and harassment of the civil servant, with the police warning that the due process of the law will take place against the perpetrators.

The female worker was harassed on suspicion of being a member an opposition political party.

Patriotic Front youth chairperson, Daniel Kalembe said one of the three suspected PF cadres in a video that has gone viral has been identified.

Mr Kalembe said the person had been identified as Mr Charles Kakula.

He said the three cadres acted on their own and disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Mr Kalembe said in an interview that the law must take its course against the trio.

Chief Government spokesperson, Dora Siliya said in a statement that the conduct of the cadres was not only unruly and uncalled for but criminal.

She has urged the police to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure that all culprits are brought to book.

And Inspector General of police, Kakoma Kanganja has condemned the behaviour of the suspected PF cadres.
