GOVERNMENT READY TO PARTNER WITH INNOVATIVE TRADITIONAL LEADERS, SAYS PRESIDENT LUNGU

TRADITIONAL leaders with innovative ideas aimed at transforming their subject’ lives should partner with government to actualise such ideas, President Edgar Lungu has said.

The President said the traditional leadership should partner with government in implementing developmental and empowerment initiatives to transform people’s lives. 

President Lungu said their royal highnesses with ideas that will transform their subject’s lives should approach his government to ensure such programmes are implemented. 

Mr Lungu said this in Siavonga  yesterday  when Chief Simamba paid a courtesy call on him.

The President said his government remains committed to expand the empowerment programme to cater for the more vulnerable people across the country. 

“My government remains committed to work with your royal highnesses. Royal highnesses like you with ideas that can transform our people’s lives should partner with government in implementing empowerment initiatives, ” said President Lungu.

He said development is a process and his government remains committed to improve infrastructure as a vehicle to accelerate development 

And Chief Simamba said he is optimistic some of challenges his people are facing will be addressed following a meeting held involving all stakeholders on lake Kariba.

The traditional leader said he is confident that after the meeting challenges such as fish thefts in cages on the lake will end. The traditional leader also praised President Lungu for the Presidential Fish farming initiative where two cooperatives namely Buyantanshi  and Kamimbi have benefited.

Chief Simamba also requested for more empowerment for his people especially the youths. 

He also requested that construction of various projects including the communication tower, a hospital and a civic centre is  accelerated to bring social services closer to the people.
