PF Members in Petauke reject Kaumbwe Constituency MP

By KETRA KALUNGA

Patriotic Front  (PF) members in Kaumbwe constituency in Petauke have rejected the incumbent Member of Parliament, Listed Tembo as candidate for the August 12 general elections opting for another local resident, Jimmy Lungu.

And the  members have petitioned Members of Central Committee (MCC) to adopt a candidate who would reflect the wish of the people in the area to stand as MP in the coming general elections.

Mr Peter Mumba said, they want an MP who has been on the ground and not the incumbent because not only has he failed to deliver but has practically abandoned the people.

Mr. Mumba said in an interview that the incumbent, Mr. Tembo who rarely visits the constituency has not taken any tangible development to the area since being ushered in office in 2016.

“We want an MP who has been on the ground so that we don’t have challenges introducing him to the people on the ground, the incumbent has not brought development,” he said.

Mr. Tembo said the people in the area have faced a lot of challenges which upto now has not been resolved because the incumbent was rarely in the constituency to appreciate the problems that they are grappling with.

We don’t want the problems that we face to repeat themselves, we appeal to the MCC and our President, Edgar Lungu to give us a candidate who will sent to them,” he said.

He also said they do not want new comers flashing money and getting local people drunk because that was not development.

“Someone just comes now because they hear that there are elections and start flashing and giving people K10s for beer in order to buy them. That will not work. We want someone who has been with us for a long time and understands our probrems,” Mr Mumba said.
