ZAMBIA SUGAR FLAGS OFF 2021 CANE CRUSHING SEASON

THE Zambia Sugar Company has flagged off the cane crushing season for 2021/2022.

The event which took place on Thursday, April 29 was commissioned by Southern Province Permanent Secretary (PS), Joyce Bwacha Nsamba.

Ms. Nsamba observed that the commissioning of the Nakambala factory was an annual event taking place every April and was very significant.

MS. Nsamba remarked, “This event marks an important event not only on the calendar of Zambia Sugar business but the country’s entire sugar industry, in general”.

She encouraged Zambia Sugar to support foreign exchange revenue generation through growing its sugar exports. She further pledged Government’s continued support to businesses ensuring a favourable business environment.

During the same event Country Managing Director, Rebecca Katowa, commended Government for the support the company continues to enjoy especially in working in the fight against COVID-19.

“Madam PS, as you may be aware, Zambia Sugar and Government have a strong relationship that enables the business to create shared value in the local communities and the country at large. The Company is privileged to be on the Government-private sector Committee tasked to prepare guidelines for procurement and administration of COVID-19 vaccines which is important in the control of the pandemic,” she said.
